Advisory

3:30PM WINTER WEATHER WARNING - STORM ALERT 10 to 12 inches expected Thursday

STORM ALERT 10 to 12 inches expected Thursday

South Brunswick Office of Emergency Management Director Chief Raymond Hayducka and Township Manager Bernard Hvozdovic are issuing an updated advisory for a storm expected to impact our region Thursday. The latest forecast has increased snowfall totals for our community. The timing of the storm will make Thursday mornings commute hazardous. There are already some announced closings and delayed openings. In anticipation of the storm residents should remove their vehicles off Township roadways to allow for faster plowing of the roads.

FORECAST
Very high impact event tomorrow morning...In spite of the deceptive warmth now, we are still in line for a major snowfall tomorrow morning. It starts as a light rain/snow/sleet mix and please note that any rain prior to the switch to all snow is minimal.

The change to heavy precipitation and all snow is rapid and that should take place 4AM-6 AM When this happens, expect a very heavy, intense snow for several hours as snowfall rates will be 1-3" per hour. Intensity is so great that thunder/lightning can occur.

While the bulk of the accumulating snow should be done by 11 AM, we have extended the end-time a little longer as this can linger into the early afternoon. Thinking that this should start as wet snow before trending drier towards the end of the event. Also watch for blowing/drifting as winds during and after are 10-25 mph.
