Wednesday February 1
Residential Burglary – 300 Blk. W. Washington
Time: 1/31 2000 – 2/1 1700
Unknown suspects forced entry into an enclosed storage locker in the parking area of the complex. Two bicycles and miscellaneous items were stolen.
Strong-Arm Robbery – Maude & Bayview
Time: 2016
The victim was walking in the area while holding his cell phone. One of the suspects grabbed the phone from the victim and ran. A security guard in the area was able to take the suspect into custody. The second suspect was located later and also arrested. Both juvenile suspects were booked into Juvenile Hall.
Thursday February 2
Possession of Stolen Property – Tenaka & La Conner
Time: 0940
Officers were conducting security checks in the area and made contact with a group of individuals. One of the subjects was on searchable probation and was determined to have numerous stolen credit cards, driver licenses, and a counterfeit US Postal Service (USPS) mailbox key. Another subject was a registered sex offender that was in possession of narcotics. Both suspects were arrested and booked into County Jail. USPS investigators were notified.
Friday February 3
Residential Burglary – 1600 Blk. Martin
Time: 1/25 1015 – 2/3 1140
During the listed time frame, unknown suspects entered a house under construction and stole a stove and microwave.
Fire – 700 Blk. San Simeon
Time: 1030
DPS personnel responded on a reported fire that was out. Upon arrival, crews located active fire in the attic area and upgraded to a first alarm. The fire was brought under control quickly and did not spread beyond the attic.
Fire/Rescue – 900 Blk. Primrose
Time: 1141
A passerby reported seeing smoke coming from a residence. Upon arrival, crews observed smoke coming from the roof and a wheelchair on the front porch. Crews forced entry into the residence which was charged with smoke and heard someone inside. Crews located a disabled elderly resident inside and rescued him from the residence. The resident was treated for smoke inhalation and transported to a hospital. It was determined there was a pot on the stove that had been burning for a while. The fire was extinguished before spreading beyond the stove area.
Robbery – 100 Blk. E. El Camino
Time: 1956
Officers responded to an armed robbery that just occurred. Two suspects wearing masks entered the store. One suspect was armed with a handgun and the other suspect with a knife. The suspects forced the store employees to open the store safe and then tied them up. The employees were then locked in a bathroom. The suspects ransacked the store, taking dozens of cell phones and merchandise valued at approximately $64,300. The suspects fled in a vehicle. The employees were not injured.
Officers located the suspect vehicle in the area of Corte Madera and Costa Mesa Ter. The vehicle fled at a high rate of speed and short vehicle pursuit ensued. The suspect vehicle was ultimately stopped in an apartment complex parking lot. The driver fled on foot and was immediately captured. The passenger attempted to flee on foot. An officer deployed his conductive energy device, apprehending the suspect. That suspect was transported to the hospital for treatment and released.
DPS personnel were assisted by the Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Office air unit, patrol personnel, and Mountain View PD.
The handgun used in the robbery was located in the suspect vehicle. The handgun was reported stolen out of Nevada. All of the stolen property was recovered in the suspect vehicle. Investigators are determining whether these suspects are responsible for similar armed robberies in the Bay Area.
The suspects were booked into the Santa Clara County Jail for various charges, including Armed Robbery and Kidnapping.
Sunday February 5
Mutual Aid – Heatherdale & Bascom, San Jose
Time: 1324
San Jose PD requested DPS K9’s to assist in searching for a suspect who had brandished a firearm and fled on foot from SJPD officers. After an hour of searching, one of the DPS K9’s flushed the suspect out of hiding and he was taken into custody by SJPD. The handgun was also recovered.
