2016 Crime Statistics Available Now - Hard Work of SCPD Personnel and Engaged Citizens Contribute to Crime Reduction
The City of Santa Clara and the Santa Clara Police Department are pleased to announce the 2016 Crime Statistics to the community at large. While one victim is one victim too many, the department is pleased to see a reduction in many Part 1 Crimes.
Chief Michael J. Sellers credits the Department’s success to the hard work and dedication of SCPD personnel and engaged citizens.
While 2016 crime is down, Chief Sellers is committed to taking additional steps to reduce crime even further. Our citizenry is a crucial component to an effective crime prevention plan. To help reduce crime and improve the quality of life in our great city, Chief Sellers encourages residents, visitors and the business community to collaborate with law enforcement by:
• Locking your vehicle and not leaving anything in plain sight (purse/wallet, cell phone, iPod, GPS, laptop, backpack or computer bag, packages);
• Subscribing to receive crime prevention tips via Facebook, Twitter, Nextdoor, eNotify or Nixle;
• Getting involved in your local Neighborhood Watch group; and,
• Reporting suspicious activity. If you see something, say something!
