A stolen firearm is recovered during a routine traffic stop in Bloomington

INCIDENT: PC 29800(a) Felon in Possession of a Firearm; PC 496(a) Possession of a Stolen Firearm
LOCATION: 18181 Valley Boulevard, Bloomington
SUSPECT(S): Cesar Garcia, 51-year old, resident of Rialto
VICTIM(S): Confidential
SUMMARY: On February 2, 2017, a traffic stop was conducted on a vehicle e for expired registration, as it pulled into a motel parking lot at 18181 Valley Blvd. in Bloomington. The driver of the vehicle was identified as Cesar Garcia a convicted felon with an active felony warrant for vehicle theft.
During a search of the vehicle, deputies located a loaded firearm with the serial numbers removed, inside of the vehicle. The handgun was reported stolen in a burglary in Fontana Police Department's area in October 2015. Garcia was arrested and booked into West Valley Detention Center for PC 29800(a) Felon in Possession Firearm, PC 496(a) Possessing a Firearm with an Altered Serial Number and his active warrant.
