On Tuesday, January 31, 2017 Kathleen Friess (Human Trafficking Program Coordinator at the NJ Division of Criminal Justice – Office of the Attorney General) collaborated with the Pine Hill School District and Pine Hill Police Department to present the topic of Human Trafficking to students and staff members at Overbrook High School. Two 45 minute assemblies were presented, during which Mrs. Friess’ passion for the topic was demonstrated as she captivated the 600+ students and teachers.
January is Human Trafficking Awareness Month and we are dedicated to providing our youth and community members with resources to better prepare themselves to identity a possible human trafficking victim. The Pine Hill School District’s Guidance Department and the Pine Hill Police Department have taken a proactive approach to battling the epidemic of Human Trafficking in our area. Officers and Counselors continue to enhance their knowledge on the topic of Interviewing Human Trafficking Victims. Incidents of human trafficking have emerged from Pine Hill, increasing the need to overcome the issue within our community and help accomplish one of the NJ Human Trafficking Task Force goals; to increase successful interdiction and prosecution of trafficking of human persons.
