1/16 – 1:09 a.m. – Police responded to a domestic battery in progress, on East Laurel Street. The incident was between a male and female who reside together. Upon an investigation a male subject was taken into custody. Millstadt EMS was summoned to the scene to assess the female for injuries. A Smithton Police Officer responded for assistance. The following day the St. Clair County State’s Attorney’s Office charged the suspect, William A. Coyner age 36 of Millstadt, with one count of Domestic Battery/Physical Contact. According to the charging document, the defendant pushed the victim causing her head to strike a vehicle. Bond was set at $7,500.
