Press Release: Structure fire, 2500 block of Santa Clara Av

This morning at 4:13 am, Alameda Fire responded to the report of smoke inside a restaurant on the 2500 block of Santa Clara Avenue.  Arriving firefighters found a working structure, with smoke showing from the roof.  Crews stretched two pre-connected hose lines inside the building while others ventilated the roof, using a power saw and tools.  The fire was knocked down at 4:26 am, with complete extinguishment at 4:43 am.

There is significant fire, heat and smoke damage to the restaurant.  There was some minor smoke damage to the adjacent businesses in that building.  There were no reported injuries.  A total of 21 firefighters responded.

AFD Fire Investigators are at the scene working to determine the cause and origin of the fire.

Oakland Fire provided two mutual aid engine companies to backfill at vacant Alameda fire stations.  Other assisted agencies included Alameda Police, Alameda Municipal Power, Pacific Gas and Electricity and Alameda County Environmental Health.
