Please be prepared for inclement weather this weekend
We have been notified by the National Weather Service (NWS) of some impending inclement weather to the Lamorinda Area. The purpose of this bulletin is to make sure that our residents are aware and prepared for the impending storm.
The National Weather Service has advised that over the next few days, the area will experience a significant drop in temperature and a heavy storm that will be accompanied by both wind and rain (that could be heavy at times. Here's what we've been told:
Friday 1/6/17
The NWS advises that we should expect colder than normal temperatures on Friday morning, with locations dropping into the low 30's. This may lead to hazardous conditions for outside pets. Pets should be moved to an area where they will be safe and warm. Drivers should also be aware of the presence of ice.
Saturday 1/7/17 - Sunday 1/8/17
The NWS advises that a strong storm will arrive in the Lamornida area. The storm is expected to produce widespread rainfall (up to four inches of rain) which could be heavy at times. The storm is expected to be accompanied by heavy winds. Because of anticipated rainfall amounts, this may lead to flooding of isolated areas within the Lamorinda Area.
Residents are reminded that they should prepare for possible flooding in areas that are commonly affected by heavy rains. To assist residents, the Public Works Department has placed sand and bags behind Fire Station 41 on Moraga Way. However, residents need to be prepared to fill and load their own sandbags as there is not any assistance that is available at the site.
Please take appropriate precautions this weekend and stay warm, dry and safe. Call 9-1-1 for EMERGENCIES or Dispatch at 925-284-5010 for non-emergency assistance or information.
Thank you.
