The City of Healdsburg Storm Preparations

City of Healdsburg – January 4, 2017 – The City of Healdsburg has begun to experience winter rains and has taken several measures to prepare for the incoming weather. During the fall, Public Works utilized the California Conservation Corps to remove brush and debris from Foss Creek and its tributaries. Additionally, a flow gauge installed on Foss Creek at North Street, is monitored several times a day during and after storm events.

Routinely, Public Works monitors the city’s detention basins, storm drain inlet structures and investigates and resolves any local flooding issues, which are usually drain inlets covered with leaves or papers.

In an effort to be cautious, the City has opened a sandbag filling station for city residents and businesses, should they need them, at the Community Center, 1557 Healdsburg Avenue. This station is open from 8 AM – 5 PM and is currently located on the paved area next to the field. Bags are unfilled and residents are asked to bring their own shovels and ties.
