Two arrested in an interrupted home burglary

On 12-31-16 at about 12:05 a.m. Menlo Park Police Officers responded to the 1100 block of Carlton Ave on a report of an interrupted residential burglary. Officers arrived and located the victim who had detained one of the suspects located in his home. He advised that he and his family returned home and found it had been ransacked. As he checked the home, he located two suspects inside a bedroom. As he attempted to detain them, one suspect was able to strike him with a hammer, causing minor injuries. The victim was able to detain one suspect and the second suspect, who was female, fled the home.

Officers took the detained suspect into custody. This suspect was determined to be a juvenile. Officers established a perimeter and after an extensive search located the second female juvenile suspect in the 1100 block of Sevier Ave.

The suspects arrested are:

13 year old Hispanic male juvenile, who resides in Menlo Park, charged with first degree robbery, residential burglary, assault with a deadly weapon, felony vandalism, felony conspiracy and resisting/evading arrest. The suspect was booked into Hillcrest Juvenile Hall.

17 year old Hispanic female juvenile, who resides in East Palo Alto, charged with /first degree robbery, residential burglary, assault with a deadly weapon, felony vandalism, felony conspiracy and resisting/evading arrest. The suspect was booked into Hillcrest Juvenile Hall.
