THE FOLLOWING MESSAGE IS TRANSMITTED AT THE REQUEST OF THE BRIDGER-TETON NATIONAL FOREST AVALANCHE CENTER. THE BRIDGER TETON NATIONAL FOREST AVALANCHE CENTER IN JACKSON HAS ISSUED A BACKCOUNTRY AVALANCHE WARNING IN EFFECT FROM 6 PM THURSDAY EVENING UNTIL 6 PM FRIDAY. AFFECTED AREA...MOUNTAINOUS AREAS OF WESTERN WYOMING INCLUDING THE TOGWOTEE PASS AREA, YELLOWSTONE NATIONAL PARK; AND THE TETON. GROS VENTRE, SNAKE RIVER, SALT RIVER AND WYOMING RANGES. AVALANCHE DANGER...A POWERFUL STORM SYSTEM WITH STRONG WINDS, WARM TEMPERATURES AND HEAVY SNOWFALL HAS INCREASED THE AVALANCHE HAZARD TO HIGH IN THE MOUNTAINS OF WESTERN WYOMING. REASONS/IMPACTS...AVALANCHES ARE LIKELY AND HAVE ALREADY IMPACTED ROADS ON TETON PASS AND IN THE HOBACK CANYON.
