Flash Flood Advisory

Flash Flood Watch multiple locations

Este es un mensaje de la seguridad. Para espanol, llame a 211. Gracias.

The National Weather Service has issued a Flash Flood Watch.  This will be in effect from Thursday morning 12/15 through Friday afternoon 12/16, with the heaviest rain fall from midnight to 6am. The areas affected include communities located near the burn scar areas from the Cedar Fire, Erskine Fire, Rough Fire and Way Fire.

A Flash Flood Watch means that weather conditions may develop that lead to flash flooding. Flash Flooding may cause rock slides and debris flows.  Please remain aware of your surroundings.  You should monitor weather forecasts and be prepared to take action should a Flash Flood Warning be issued.

Actions you can take to prepare:

  • Assemble an emergency supply kit, be sure to include needed medication and pet supplies.

  • Clear drain areas around your home.

  • Fill and place sandbags if necessary.

You are urged to closely monitor flood conditions in your area and be prepared to move to a place of safety if it becomes necessary for you to evacuate. If there is a possibility of a flash flood in your area, move immediately to higher ground.  Do not wait for an evacuation order.  Do not attempt to drive your vehicle into areas where the water covers the roadway.

Please make sure your neighbors are alerted.  Please stay tuned to your local television or radio stations for more information as it becomes available.  If you have any questions about the content of this message, please contact Kern County Information and Referral Service at 2-1-1.  Thank You
