With the cold and snow coming, the Lockport PD offer some tips and warming center information

The City of Lockport is making the lobby area of Central Square (222 E. 9th St) available as a warming center for any resident who may need it.  During normal business hours (M-F 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM), the lobby will be open.  If the warming center is required outside of these hours, please contact the Lockport Police Department non-emergency line at 815-838-2131.  We will arrange to have personnel come and open the center for you.

We would also like to remind residents to be good neighbors during these cold and snowy days ahead.  Some tips we would like to offer are:

  • Please shovel your sidewalks so that residents can travel safely through your neighborhoods.
  • Do not park on the streets until snow plowing operations have been completed.
  • Remember to check on neighbors who may have particular trouble during the storm, including the elderly, those with very young children, and those with disabilities. If you are going out for supplies, offer to pick something up for them.  If you are physically able, please consider helping to clear their driveway.
  • Don’t leave pets out in the cold too long, and if you see a pet out in the cold try to ensure its safe arrival indoors.
