Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Special Enforcement Bureau (SEB) has concluded their tactical response regarding an armed barricaded suspect at 15700 block of Cornuta Avenue, Bellflower.  The suspect was not found at the location.
 
Special Enforcement Bureau deputies learned that on Thursday night, December 8, 2016, at approximately 10:47, Lakewood deputies responded to the location for a family disturbance with an armed suspect who threatened to shoot his father.  The father was able to leave the location but the suspect’s bed ridden grandmother and grandmother’s caretaker were inside the house with the suspect and unable to leave.  After several failed verbal attempts to persuade the suspect to surrender, the SEB special weapons team made entry into the residence and rescued the suspect’s grandmother and the caretaker. 
 
Once they determined there were no other hostages, and unable to make contact with anyone else at the residence, SEB entered the location to search for the suspect.  The suspect was not found inside the house.
 
All family members were unharmed and all neighborhood evacuees were allowed to return to their homes.

Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Special Enforcement Bureau (SEB) Special Weapons Team is responding to the 15700 block of Cornuta Avenue, Bellflower, to assist Lakewood Station deputies regarding an Armed Barricaded Suspect.

SEB deputies have assumed command of the tactical response and Crisis Negotiation Team personnel are also on scene to bring the situation to a peaceful resolution.

Surrounding homes have been evacuated for the safety of the residents.

There is no additional information available at this time.
