Police Blotter November 18th through November 21st

November 18th

Shoplifter - 11450 San Pablo Ave:
At 0800 hours, an officer was flagged down by the manager of Safeway regarding a shoplifter. The subject, a 55 year old Richmond man was reportedly in the store, helping himself to alcoholic beverages and donuts. He was detained nearby and found to be on felony probation. He was placed under citizen’s arrest, booked and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

Brandishing a Deadly Weapon - Central Ave / San Louis Ave:
At 2154 hours, officers observed a 29 year old Richmond man getting ready to hit another subject with a baseball bat. The officers intervened and took the subject into custody. He was arrested, booked at the ECPD and released on a citation.

Arson - San Pablo Ave / Madison Ave:
At 2233 hours, an officer observed a sleeping bag and backpack on fire. The officer extinguished the fire but had the ECFD respond to assist with the arson investigation. While investigating, a female victim arrived on scene and said the items belonged to her. She was extremely uncooperative and said her boyfriend likely started the fire after a fight. She would only provide a vague description and no name. The suspect was described as a white male with glasses.

Arson - BART Path / Blake Street:
At 2249 hours, while investigating the above incident, Officers heard another fire broadcasted over the fire channel to the rear of Safeway. Officers responded and found a suitcase on fire. The suitcase likely belonged to the above victim but she only claimed to have been “dragging it” earlier, not ownership, and the suspect was likely her boyfriend. ECFD extinguished the fire and assisted with the investigation.

Driving under the influence of an Alcoholic Beverage – Central Ave / San Joaquin St:
At 0149 hours, an officer conducted a traffic stop. The officer determined the driver, a 32 year old Sonoma man was driving under the influence of an alcoholic beverage. He was booked at the ECPD and released on a citation.

November 19th

Residential Burglary – 6000 block of Potrero Ave:
At 0815 hours, an officer responded to the report of a burglary that had just occurred. Two suspects entered the backyard and forced the rear door. They fled south onto the BART trail. The suspects were described as:
Suspect-1: Black male, 35 years old, 5’10” 200 lbs, black jacket, red shirt, black pants and black boots.
Suspect-2: Black male, 30 years old, 5’10” 200 lbs, black jacket, white shirt, black pants and boots.

Stolen Vehicle – 1300 block of Arlington Blvd:
At 1017 hours, an officer responded to the report of a stolen 1998 Honda Civic. When he arrived, the officer noticed an abandoned 1995 Honda Accord parked nearby with the ignition punched. This vehicle was an unreported stolen vehicle, taken from San Pablo earlier in the day. While the officer was taking the report, a neighboring Police Department responded to the report a subject cashing the victim’s stolen checks. The victim’s 1998 Honda was found at the scene and the subject cashing the checks, a 28 year old San Pablo resident was arrested.

Shoplifter - 11861 San Pablo Ave:
At 1049 hours, an officer responded to the report of a woman stealing food from Starbucks. He located a 30 year old transient woman at Knott Ave. / San Pablo Ave. She was identified as the responsible and was placed under citizen’s arrest. She was also wanted on a No Bail felony warrant. She was booked and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

Disorderly Conduct - Public Intoxication – Safeway, 11450 San Pablo Ave:
At 1913 hours, Officers were dealing with a civil matter at Safeway when a 32 year old El Cerrito man approached officers, intervene, and began cursing at officers. He was heavily intoxicated and refused to leave when he was told the matter did not involve him. He was arrested and transported directly to Martinez Detention Facility.

Residential Burglary – 1400 block of Navellier St:
An officer responded to the report of a residential burglary. Sometime between 1750 at 2146 hours, an unknown suspect shattered the back sliding glass door, enter the victims’ residence, and conducted a mild ransack. Indications are the suspect was scared off when the victims returned home but no suspect was seen or heard.

Battery / Battery on a Police Officer – Nations, 6060 Central Ave:
At 2350 hours, Officers responded to an unwanted subject who was causing a disturbance at the restaurant. She decided to sling ice and water from her cup at the staff as she was being escorted from the business. She was arrested and placed in handcuffs and escorted outside where she spit on officers. She was transported to Martinez Detention Facility.

Driving under the Influence / Hit and Run collision – Central Ave / Yolo Ave:
At 0117 hours, officers responded to a hit and run collision in which the driver of one of the vehicles and his passenger fled on foot. The driver, a 30 year old Alameda man and his passenger were located near Yosemite and detained. He was positively identified as the driver during an in-field show up. He was determined to be driving under the influence of an alcoholic beverage. He was booked at the ECPD and then released on a citation.

Felon in Possession of Firearm & Body Armor, Credit card fraud, possession of stolen property, vehicle tampering, and Resisting Arrest – Safeway, 11450 San Pablo Ave:
At 0517 hours, officers responded to a report of four suspicious persons at Safeway who tried to use a stolen credit card to purchase merchandise and were trying car door handles in the parking lot. The subjects were located at the Del Norte BART station and an officer attempted to detain the group. Two of the subjects, a 19 year old male and 20 year old male, complied. One of the subjects, a 23 year old convicted felon from Fairfield fled on foot. An officer chased him to San Pablo Avenue where he fell. As he fell, a loaded firearm fell out of his clothing. He was found to be wearing full military grade body armor. He was found to be in possession of stolen credit cards. The 20 year old male was also wanted on a San Jose University warrant. All three were arrested and booked at the ECPD. The 19 year old was released on a citation while the 20 and 23 year old were transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

November 20th

Vehicle Tampering - 11299 San Pablo Ave:
At 1007 hours, an officer responded to the report of a subject tampering with a commercial vehicle in the parking lot. Officers located a 34 year old Richmond resident who was identified as the responsible subject. He was found to be on probation for armed robbery. He was placed under citizen’s arrest, booked and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

Shoplifting, Drug Paraphernalia, Dangerous Weapon possession - 11450 San Pablo Ave:
At 1010 hours, Officers responded to the report of a shoplifting in progress at Safeway. The suspect a 50 year old Richmond woman was found nearby at the Del Norte BART station with a bag full of freshly stolen property from the store. The woman, a convicted felon, was in possession of pepper spray and a crack pipe. She was booked and transported to the MDF.

Stolen Vehicle - 1746 Lexington Ave:
At 1125 hours, an officer responded to the report of a stolen tan 1993 Acura.

Warrant Arrest – 900 block of Seaview Dr:
At 1545 hours, officers conducted a security check on a red tagged house and deemed uninhabitable. They located a 44 year old Richmond man in the backyard. He was wanted on a misdemeanor ECPD warrant. He was arrested, booked and released on a citation.

November 21st

Hit and Run Collision – San Pablo Ave. / Potrero Ave:
At 0907 hours, an officer responded to the report of a hit and run collision. A Ford work truck rear ended a mini-van with the small children in it and then fled the scene. The Ford’s license plate fell off during the collision. The officer followed up with the owner of the truck and determined a 20 year old Pleasanton man was the driver of the vehicle. The man later came to the station and made a statement. This case will be forwarded to the District Attorney’s office for prosecution.

Warrant Arrest - Potrero Ave./S. 56thSt.
At 1221 hours, an officer spotted a 28 year old Richmond man whom he recognized from previous contacts and determined the man was wanted on a No Bail warrant. He was arrested, booked and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

Commercial Burglary – 520 El Cerrito Plaza:
Between November 18th at 1630 hours and today at 0900 hours, an unknown suspect(s) entered the office space through an unlocked window via the roof and stole computer equipment.

Stolen Vehicle – 1000 El Cerrito Plaza:
Between 0730 – 1630 hours, an unknown suspect stole the victim’s grey 1997 Nissan Pickup.

Warrant – Central Ave / Pierce Street:
At 2201 hours, an officer contacted a 49 year old man from Richmond who was wanted on a Contra Costa County warrant. He was issued a citation in the field and released.

Warrant – Central Ave / Pierce Street:
At 2213 hours, an officer conducted a traffic stop and arrested a 39 year old Richmond man on a no bail Contra Costa County Ramey Warrant. He was booked at the ECPD and then transported to Martinez Detention Facility.
