(Etowah County, Alabama) A Boaz man has been arrested in connection to domestic violence, according to Sheriff Todd Entrekin.

“Matthew Scott Clanton, 33, of Boaz, was arrested and charged with one count of first degree domestic violence/suffocation, which is a felony,” investigator Brandi Fuller said.

Clanton allegedly beat the female victim, over a two day period, and strangled her until she lost consciousness. The victim had swelling to her eyes and forehead, a laceration on her lip along with several cuts and bruises.

Clanton was booked into the Etowah County Detention Center on a $25,000 cash bond for the warrant.
