*Public Safety Announcement* Attempt to Identify Rape Suspect, Slauson Av/Carmelita Av, Maywood

The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department (LASD) is issuing a public safety announcement to make the public aware of a rape that occurred in the City of Maywood on Sunday, November 13, 2016.

Detectives from the LASD Special Victims Bureau are investigating the rape of a female adult that occurred at her residence in the area of Slauson Avenue and Carmelita Avenue in Maywood. The crime occurred between the times of midnight and 4:00 a.m.  The victim of the assault was a female between the age of 30 and 40 years who was home alone at the time of the attack.

The suspect is described as a bilingual male Hispanic between the age of 20 and 30 years.  He was approximately between 5’2 – 5’7 in height with a thin build, partial facial hair and wore a dark hooded sweatshirt.
 
Members of the community are encouraged to keep their doors and windows locked, and ensure the areas around their home are well lit.
