Victim Lemus was walking southbound on Gerhart Avenue at Repetto Street with two unidentified male Hispanic adults. A small gray compact vehicle drove southbound on Gerhart Avenue and an occupant in the vehicle shot the victim. The vehicle continued southbound on Gerhart Avenue and out of view. Victim Lemus ran to the 500 block of Williamson Street and collapsed.

***1^st Update***

Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Homicide detectives are continuing their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the shooting death of a male, Hispanic, approximately 25 years-old that occurred Monday, October 31,2016.

Detectives have learned that the victim and two other people were walking South on Gerhart Avenue at Eagle Street in East Los Angeles when a grey sedan slowed down and opened fire striking the victim in the upper torso.  The victim staggered ¼ mile and then collapsed. 

The victim was transported to a local hospital and pronounced dead from a single gunshot wound. 

It is unknown if the other two people were struck by gunfire. 

The suspect(s) and the other two potential victims are still outstanding. 

The investigation is ongoing and there is no additional information available at this time.
