Hit and Run Traffic Collision; 9-Year-Old with Minor Injuries; Police Looking For Driver

Location: 1200 Block of Calle Pensamiento
Date & Time: December 16, 2009 @ 4:39 p.m.

The Thousand Oaks Police Department’s Traffic Bureau is investigating a hit and run injury traffic accident involving a vehicle and a bicyclist. The collision occurred in the 1200 block of Calle Pensamiento. The male juvenile bicyclist was riding westbound on Calle Pensamiento when he turned north and attempted to cross the street. The vehicle was traveling westbound on Calle Pensamiento and collided with the bicyclist. Immediately after the collision occurred, the driver of the vehicle fled the scene and was last seen westbound on Calle Pensamiento towards Avenida De Las Plantas.

Personnel from the Ventura County Fire Department and American Medical Response responded to the scene. The juvenile was transported via ambulance to Los Robles Regional Medical Center for what appeared to be minor injuries. Deputies searched the area with the assistance of a helicopter, but were unable to locate the vehicle.
The suspect vehicle was described as a green, full size pick up with silver trim. The driver was described as a Hispanic male, 40 to 50 years old, 5’5” to 5’10”, heavy set, with brown hair, brown eyes, and a mustache.
