The El Cerrito Police Department hosted and instructed a patrol bicycle course for police officers. Officers from the Napa Police Department, Milpitas Police Department, and the Contra Costa Community College District Police attended the three day course which began on Monday Oct 24th and ended Wednesday Oct 26th.

The course is physically demanding as officers rode almost 60 miles during the three day course. The final day ride was over 25 miles around the picturesque Bay Trail. Officers learned techniques for ascending and descending stairs, arrest and control from a bicycle, bicycle control, and gearing/braking techniques. The El Cerrito Police Department has had a bicycle patrol program since 1998 and has been instructing the course for nearly a decade. Instructors for the course were Officer Jeff Albrandt and Lt. Steve Bonini.
