Body of missing King County firefighter found in Grant County
Near GEORGE, Wash. (23OCT2016) – A body recovered on Saturday in western Grant County has been identified as a King County firefighter missing since last weekend and the subject of a statewide search.
Around 4:30 p.m. Saturday, a man scouting for deer found the body later confirmed to be that of Firefighter Ken Ward. Firefighter Ward was found near the Wild Horse Monument along Interstate 90 about nine miles west of George. Firefighter Ward was a short distance from his vehicle which was parked near the monument. Firefighter Ward’s family and colleagues have been notified.
Firefighter Ward’s body is in the care of Grant County Coroner Craig Morrison whose staff will conduct an autopsy to determine cause and manner of death. There is no indication of foul play.
The members of the Grant County Sheriff’s Office extend their sincerest condolences and prayers to Firefighter Ward’s family and colleagues.
