Hunterdon Central Regional High School Bomb Threat Suspect Arrested - http://bit.ly/2ei6wTT

Hunterdon County Prosecutor Anthony P. Kearns, III, Chief of Detectives John J. Kuczynski, and Raritan Township Police Chief Glenn Tabasko announced the arrest of one individual on charges related to a bomb threat at the Hunterdon Central Regional High School earlier this week.

A student from Hunterdon Central Regional High School was arrested and charged with False Public Alarm and Terroristic Threats, both 3rd degree crimes. The student was also charged with Criminal Mischief, a 4th degree crime.

On Tuesday, October 18, at approximately 8:00am, police evacuated Hunterdon Central High School for the safety and security of the students after receiving a bomb threat. Members of the Hunterdon County Prosecutor’s Office, the Raritan Township Police Department, and the New Jersey State Police responded to the scene and assisted with the investigation.

According to Prosecutor Kearns, ““Penalties for these offenses, besides possible detention, community service, and probation, could also include financial restitution for the cost of the police and emergency response to the threats. Parents are financially responsible for the all these costs and the court could order restitution.”

Prosecutor Kearns concluded, “The Hunterdon County Prosecutor’s Office and the Raritan Township Police Department do not take any bomb threat or any other kind of threat at a school lightly. These incidents disrupt the educational process and are dangerous for the rest of the community. They will be aggressively investigated and those responsible will be prosecuted.”

The filing of a criminal complaint is merely a step in the criminal justice process. The defendant is presumed innocent until the matter is resolved in a court of law.
