Credit Card Skimming Devices Found
Dearborn, Mi. — Recently, officers from the Dearborn Police Department responded to the scene of an ATM located within the city of Dearborn regarding a suspicious looking device attached to the machine. An investigation revealed that a Credit Card Skimming Device had been attached to the machine in an attempt to obtain the account information of customers.
Recent intelligence indicates a trend in the use of credit card skimming devices by criminals in many southeastern Michigan communities, including Dearborn. These devices are most commonly attached to Automated Teller Machines (ATM) or gas pumps. These devices are designed to obtain account information and ultimately withdraw funds from account holders.
Members of the public are urged to use caution when utilizing these machines and methods of payment. If you believe that you may have been a victim of this type of crime please report this to police. If you discover something suspicious attached to a gas pump or ATM please do not touch the device and notify police to respond.
