Chief Neuman accepts national award.

Today marks a monumental day in the History of the Deal Police Department. Several months ago I was invited to the International Association of Chiefs of Police Conference in San Diego to receive the NHTSA Traffic Safety Award. This is the largest conference for law enforcement executives comprised of over 17,000 attendees from over 80 countries. Out of the thousands of participants in the National Law Enforcement Challenge, Deal Police Department placed 3rd in the nation. We are the first municipal police department in New Jersey to receive this prestigious award on the national level.

Police departments throughout the nation compete for this award and must demonstrate that they excel in Problem Identification, Policies, Planning, Training, Public Information, Education and Enforcement.

It was truly an honor to receive this award. This accomplishment would not have been possible without the tireless work of the members of the Deal Police Department in keeping our roadways safe and Sgt. Matt Sharin for compiling all the necessary data so that it can be presented to the national assessors.

35,092 motorists were killed in traffic accidents in 2015. Proactive traffic enforcement helps reduce traffic related fatalities. The members of the Deal Police Department will remain committed to protecting our roadways.

Ronen Neuman
Chief of Police
