Storm Follow-Up Information

October 18, 2016 12:00 PM Pumping Pumping Operations within the Town are complete.

Debris/Large Item Pick Up Debris pick up will take place over the next several weeks. Please put debris in right-of-way as soon as possible. Please separate debris into three piles:

Metal/Appliances
Vegetative Debris
Construction/Furniture

Road Information and Closures NC HWY 12 Between White and Starfish will be closed until further notice. E. Tateway between Goosander and HWY 158 is also closed due to standing water. NCDOT will be sweeping NC 12 in the near future. Mosquito Control Dare County is currently spraying for Mosquitoes. For more information, please contact (252) 475-5885.

Septic Tanks

If you believe your Septic Tank has been compromised, please contact Dare County Environmental Health at 252-475-5080 FEMA Information Dare County is now included in the federal government designation for individual assistance.

Homeowners, renters and business owners in Dare County who suffered damage during Hurricane Matthew are urged to register with the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), as they may be eligible for disaster assistance. Assistance may include grants for temporary housing, rental assistance and home repairs, and for other serious disaster-related needs, such as repairing or replacing damaged or destroyed personal property, and medical and dental expenses. FEMA is working to establish Local Disaster Recovery Centers in Dare County. Information regarding locations and hours of operations will be released as soon as possible. Information regarding availability of local disaster recovery centers will be provided as details are received.

The Outer Banks Community Foundation is coordinating all monetary donations. At this time monetary donations are the greatest help to those in need rather than donations of clothing and other goods., Donations can be made online at www.obxdisaster.org, or mailed to the Outer Banks Community Foundation at 13 Skyline Road, Southern Shores, NC 27949. Voter Registration Due to Hurricane Matthew

The Voter Registration Deadline has been extended to and including close of business on Wednesday, October 19. For more information on registering to vote or voting early, please visit Dare County Board of Elections website.
