<p>(Harris County, TX)&nbsp; Harris County Sheriff&rsquo;s Office District 1 patrol deputies were dispatched to an in progress call at the Bank of America located at 13331 S. State Highway 249 and Smilingwood Ln this morning Friday ,October 14, 2016 at 9:05am.</p>

<p>Sergeant M. Hatcher reports that deputy M. Barnett responded to the priority 1 call and was told that a 22 year old black male subject entered the bank and walked to a teller window.&nbsp; He handed a note&nbsp;to a teller&nbsp;that demanded the money from the cash draw.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The bank teller immediately pushed the alarm notifying employees of the attempted robbery.</p>

<p>Witnesses saw the suspect flee the bank to a Shell gas station across the street and enter a black colored Chevrolet Camaro.</p>

<p>When Deputy Barnett arrived, he relayed the information to arriving deputies.</p>

<p>Deputy W Reed saw the Camaro parked at a gas pump, pulled in behind him and ordered him to exit the vehicle.&nbsp; The male accelerated his Camaro and struck a van that was parked at a pump and fled south on Smilingwood and disregarded traffic at north Houston Rosslyn trying to evade deputies.</p>

<p>Deputy L. Gonzales also responding to the call followed the suspect fleeing.&nbsp; The suspect lost control of the vehicle struck median curb and crashed into a fence and was apprehended by deputies without incident.</p>

<p>He is currently being interviewed by the FBI Bank Robbery Task Force, where charges are expected to be filed.</p>

<p>HCSO North Patrol District 1 supervisor Sergeant M. Hatcher and deputies M. Barnett, W. Reed and L. Gonzales deserve recognition for risking their lives to apprehend a bank robbery suspect that disregarded the safety of citizens in order to make a futile escape.</p>
