Update: The man suspected of attacking a gas station clerk in San Marcos has been arrested in Encinitas. Sheriff's Deputies recognized the suspect from surveillance video of the attack that was released earlier today. We thank the public for their assistance.

Take a good look at this surveillance from a violent attack at a gas station in San Marcos. Someone out there knows the man who beat up the clerk. Video: https://vimeo.com/186023808. It happened just after 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 28th at the Chevron located in the 1200 block of W. San Marcos Boulevard. In the surveillance video, you can see the suspect walk into the store and immediately punch the clerk several times, knocking him to the ground. The clerk hit his head on the floor and was knocked unconscious. The suspect then kicked the clerk on the side of the head and was last seen getting into the passenger’s side of a light-colored sedan. The driver of the sedan was a woman who had previously entered the gas station to purchase beer. The clerk was taken to a local hospital. He suffered bruising/swelling to his face, a cut on the back of his head that required staples and bleeding inside his skull on the left side of his brain.
