As of the 8:00 a.m. meeting this morning with Hardee County Emergency Management, Hardee County is now under a Tropical Storm Warning.

All schools will be CLOSED tomorrow, October 7th.

All after-school and evening activities are cancelled for this afternoon.

All field trips are cancelled for Saturday.

An evacuation center will open this evening at 8:00 p.m. at Hardee Junior High School.

The School District plans to re-open on Monday, October 10th.

Expected forecast:

7:00 p.m.: Winds of 20 - 30 mph developing

12:00 a.m.: Sustained winds of 40 mph with wind gusts of 55 mph and 70 mph in rain bands

2:00 - 8:00 a.m.: Strongest winds expected in excess of 70 mph

3:00 p.m.: Winds should begin to die down.
