City of Stamford - Water Supply Emergency
This is an important message from the City of Stamford. The State’s Department of Public Health has declared a public water supply emergency for Stamford, Greenwich, Darien and New Canaan. Maintaining an adequate supply of safe drinking water is a top priority. Mandatory water conservation measures are required to prevent a much larger water crisis. Aquarion Water Company’s mandatory water ban includes stopping the use of outdoor watering devices, including irrigation systems, sprinklers, hand-held and soaker hoses. Because the water table is lower than normal all residents, even those with private wells, should support this ban and turn off irrigation and/or sprinkler systems for the season. Abiding by this ban will help ensure that Stamford has an adequate water supply for everyday use and fire protection. Please visit our website at StamfordCT.gov for updates on the water situation in Stamford and for further ways to conserve. Thank you for your support.
