<p>Livonia Police is alerting residents to a dangerous situation. Consumers Energy is currently in the process of fixing a gas leak at the intersection of Joy/Newburgh. **The high level reading is only in the intersection**</p>
<p>Joy is closed between Newburgh and Stonehouse, please avoid this area for the next few hours. </p>
<p>****Update - Attention LPS</p>
<p>Consumers Energy reports that they are currently working on the gas leak, and Joy Rd is not expected to re-open until after 0900 hours today. Per the Consumers supervisor on scene, there is no need to close school. However, students and pedestrians are encouraged to avoid using the east sidewalk on Newburgh Rd north of Joy. Pedestrians are unable to use the sidewalk on the northeast corner of Joy and Newburgh. All driveways to Churchill High School remain open.</p>
