<p>Hunterdon County Prosecutor Anthony P. Kearns, III, announced the indictment of Christopher T. Brown, age 38, of Irvington, New Jersey. On September 15, 2016, a Hunterdon County Grand Jury returned two separate charges against Mr. Brown in connection with the heroin overdose death of a Raritan Township man.</p>
<p>According to Prosecutor Kearns, “An intensive four month investigation revealed that Mr. Brown traveled to a residence on Oak Grove Road in Raritan Township and sold an amount of heroin to a man who later died as a result of a heroin overdose.”</p>
<p>Mr. Brown was indicted on one count of Strict Liability For Drug Induced Death, a 1st degree crime, and Possession Of A Controlled Dangerous Substance With Intent To Distribute, a 3rd degree crime. The charges stemmed from an investigation by the Hunterdon County Prosecutor’s Office Gangs, Guns, & Narcotics Task Force and the Raritan Township Police Department that led to Mr. Brown’s arrest on April 4, 2016.</p>
<p>The Prosecutor added, “The Hunterdon County Prosecutor’s Office will continue to vigorously investigate all overdose deaths and bring those responsible to justice.”</p>
<p>The filing of a criminal complaint is merely a step in the criminal justice process. The defendant is presumed innocent until the matter is resolved in a court of law.</p>
