Traffic Stop Leads To Arrest Of Armed Parolee

Ripon Police Department officers on Friday arrested a male parolee during a traffic stop who was found to have a concealed handgun on his person.

Juan Jose DeAnda Martinez (32) of Tracy Ca. was arrested and booked into the San Joaquin County jail for charges that included being a felon in possession of a firearm, possession of a controlled substance while armed, possession of a controlled substance, possession of controlled substance paraphernalia and a felony gang enhancement charge said police Lt. Steve Merchant.

The incident occurred Friday night about 1100 pm in the parking lot of the Angle Petroleum gas station on E. Main St. Ripon officers conducted a traffic stop on a maroon Chevrolet Cruz regarding an equipment violation. During the stop, a male passenger was found to be on parole. Officers conducted a parole search and located a loaded handgun in the suspect’s waistband. Suspected methamphetamine and meth paraphernalia was also located on the suspect.
