Student arrested for criminal threats and hate crime against other students.

SUNNYVALE, Calif. - On Monday, September 5th, Sunnyvale DPS was contacted by concerned parents and school officials from Fremont High School regarding threatening social media messages towards a specific group of Fremont High students. The messages referenced potential violence against these students to take place on Tuesday, September 6th. DPS immediately assigned detectives to the case upon receiving the complaint. DPS investigation led to the arrest of a 17 year old Fremont High student for criminal threats and hate crime related to the social media threats against the other Fremont High students. Investigators believe the suspect was acting alone and there is no current danger to students and staff. DPS increased security at the school this morning to ensure everyone's safety. Sunnyvale DPS and the school will continue to work together to ensure the safety of the students. School administrators will continue to keep parents and students updated.

The minor was booked into Juvenile Hall.
