High temperatures and high humidity will combine to make for some extremely uncomfortable weather from now through Sunday. The heat index is expected to exceed 100 degrees on Saturday.
The North Brunswick Library will be open as a Cooling Center during this heat wave. The Library is located at 880 Hermann Road. The hours are as follows:
Monday - Thursday 10:00 AM - 9:00 PM
Friday - Saturday 10:00 AM - 5:00 PM
Sunday Noon -5:00 PM
Below are some tips to keep you cool and safe during this period of extreme heat;
Never leave children, pets or those who require special care in a parked car during extreme heat conditions.
Avoid strenuous activity, especially during the sun's peak hours 11AM to 4PM. Try to do this work early in the morning if possible.
Wear lightweight, light colored, loose fitting clothing that covers as much of your skin as possible.
Make a special effort to check on your neighbors during a heat wave, especially if they are seniors, young children, or people with special needs. Check several times each day if possible.
Drink fluids, especially water. Avoid beverages containing alcohol, caffeine or high amounts of sugar.
