UPDATE: Brush Fire - Unincorporated San Marcos

CAL FIRE has lifted an evacuation order for residents living near a brush fire burning west of Interstate 15 at Gopher Canyon Road in unincorporated San Marcos. It is safe for those evacuated to return home.

Firefighters continue working on putting out the fire. CAL FIRE says the fire has burned 25 acres. No homes or structures have been damaged.

According to Caltrans, the right lane on the southbound Interstate 15 at Gopher Canyon Road remains closed.

This is the San Diego County Sheriff's Department with an emergency message and evacuation information on Monday, August 8, 2016.

A small brush fire is burning west of Interstate 15 at Gopher Canyon Road near the Lawrence Welk Resort in unincorporated San Marcos. At this time, CAL FIRE says only two homes are threatened. Sheriff's Deputies have notified these residents about the fire.

According to the CHP, southbound Interstate 15 at Gopher Canyon Road has been closed down as firefighters work to put out the flames. Please avoid this area if you can.
