TYPE OF INCIDENT:
Attempted Homicide

On August 2, 2016, at approximately 1:15 PM, the Livermore Police Department responded to the Arroyo Creek Trail, west of Holmes Street, for a report of shots fired. When officers arrived on scene, they located a 25 year old male with a gunshot wound to his abdomen.

The preliminary investigation revealed two Hispanic males in their 20’s, confronted the victim on the Arroyo Creek Trail. During the confrontation, one of the suspects shot the victim in the abdomen. It is believed the suspects fled southbound across the creek.

The Criminal Investigations Bureau believes this is an isolated incident that occurred as a result of the initial confrontation and the community is not in danger at this time.

The victim’s identity is not being released at this time and he is currently in critical condition at an undisclosed hospital.

LPD Detectives were able to identify one of the suspects as Fernando Cruz-Armenta. On 08/03/16, Cruz-Armenta was located in the 700 block of Grace Court and arrested for attempted homicide.

Raul Bonnie Alcala, 03-27-97 is a person of interest in this investigation. Alcala has a felony warrant for Robbery (211 PC) out of the San Leandro Police Department, for an unrelated case. Alcala is considered armed and dangerous. The Livermore and San Leandro Police Departments are asking for the community’s assistance in locating Alcala. If anyone knows Alcala’s whereabouts, we are asking you to call the Livermore Police Department at (925) 371-4987 or 9-1-1.

The victim’s condition has been upgraded from critical to fair. The victim’s identity is still not being released at this time.
