Press Release: Deal Police Department Receives National Award and extends Shared Service Agreement

Press Release

DATE: 8-4-16

SUBJECT: Deal Police Department Receives National Award and extends Shared Service Agreement

Chief Ronen Neuman is proud to announce that the Deal Police Department has placed 3rd in the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP) National Law Enforcement Challenge (NLEC). The NLEC is a traffic safety recognition program that recognizes agencies that excel in keeping their roadways safe. The NLEC is designed to strengthen and support traffic safety and provides agencies an opportunity to make a difference in the communities they serve, learn from each other, and establish future goals in traffic education and enforcement.

This is the first time in the history of the National Law Enforcement Challenge that any New Jersey municipal or county agency has been ranked in the Top 3 at the national level. Chief Neuman has been invited to the (IACP’s) annual convention in San Diego California to accept this prestigious award.

Shared Service Agreement:

The Deal Police Department was one of the first agencies in the state to establish a police shared service agreement with another municipality. We began providing police services to the Borough of Interlaken in the year 2010, for a contract period of ten years. During this time the members of the Deal Police have become a part of the Interlaken community. Chief Neuman and elected officials from Deal and Interlaken recently re-negotiated the terms of our shared service agreement which allowed for an extension of an additional ten years. This means that the Deal Police Department will be providing police services to the Borough of Interlaken until at least the year 2030.

The shared service agreements that we have benefit the taxpayers of both Deal and Interlaken, and are a testament to the hard work and dedication of our officers. We are proud to be one of the first agencies to establish a shared service agreement and look forward to continuing to provide our professional services to the residents of Deal, Interlaken and Loch Arbour.
