Lockport Police Arrest man for Burglary to Motor Vehicle
On Saturday, July 30, 2016, at 5:26 AM, the Lockport Police Department arrested a 22 year old male for Burglary to Motor Vehicle and Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 600 block of 17th St. Kyle J. Baumann, 22, of 1718 Maryanne Ln, was arrested after being observed by a resident going into unlocked cars. Upon their arrival, officers were able to locate Baumann inside a vehicle without the owner’s permission. Baumann was also found to be in possession of medication without a prescription. Baumann was transferred to the Will County Adult Detention Facility to await a bond hearing.
Lockport Police officers located a large amount of stolen property on scene. Some of the property has been identified by its owner, but more property is still unaccounted for. It is believed that most of the vehicles were burglarized around the area of 17th St and Maryanne Ln, however, property was located from as far away as 10th St. Anyone who believes that they may have had property stolen in the early morning hours of July 30th is encouraged to contact the Lockport Police Department Investigations Division at 815-838-2132.
We would also like to take this opportunity to remind residents to lock their doors any time they are away from their vehicle. It takes less than a minute to become a victim of a vehicle burglary, and locking the doors is the best preventative measure a resident can take.
