Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department Lancaster Station traffic investigators are investigating the circumstances surrounding a vehicle vs. motorcycle, double fatality traffic collision that occurred on 40^th Street West and Newgrove Street in the City of Lancaster. The accident occurred on Saturday July 30, 2016, at approximately 8:30 p.m. 

Preliminary information gathered at the scene revealed the driver of a 2003 Toyota Prius was traveling southbound on 40^th Street West and made a left turn to travel eastbound on Newgrove Street.  A motorcyclist was traveling northbound 40^th Street West.  The vehicle and motorcycle collided in the intersection.  The collision resulted in fatal injuries to the front right passenger of the vehicle and the motorcyclist. 

The cause of this collision is still under investigation.
