Crews temporarily closing WIS 54/County U intersection median TODAY
After the median is closed motorists will need to use new J-turn movements

Crews plan to temporarily close the median at the WIS 54/Wood and Portage County U intersection before the end of the day TODAY (7/26). The closure is required to construct the dedicated left-turn lanes for the J-turn.
After the median is closed, motorists will need to use the new J-turn movements to navigate the intersection. Videos demonstrating how to drive the J-turn are available at: http://projects.511wi.gov/54countyu/j-turn-information/
Motorists traveling on WIS 54 can still expect to encounter single lane closures and a reduced speed limit of 55 MPH.
In mid-August, crews plan to temporarily close County U access to WIS 54 for three weeks.
The construction of the J-turn is scheduled for completion in early September 2016. The schedule is subject to change based on weather conditions and construction status.
