Applications are now being accepted for the fall edition of the Hamilton County Sheriff's Office Citizens Academy. The 12 week program will meet on Thursday evenings, 6:30-9:30p.m. from September thru November. There is no charge to attend the Citizens Academy and all Hamilton County residents age 18 and over are encouraged and invited to attend.

The Citizens Academy is a unique opportunity to meet and interact with members of the Sheriff's Office while learning the roles and functions the agency provides to the community. Classes are a mix of lecture, discussion, and hands-on exercises that allow students a better understanding of law enforcement. With a goal of transparency, the Sheriff's Office also benefits by learning how we can better serve our local citizens.

Topics covered during the Academy include Constitutional and Criminal Law, Traffic Stops, Drug and Alcohol Enforcement, Dispatch, K9, Physical Tactics, Investigations, Use of Force, and many others.
