And the Defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty.

Disturbance Noise: While on patrol an Officer heard someone yelling and stopped to investigate. The individual was on a bike and thought they saw a bear so they started yelling to scare away any wildlife in the area. No further action required.


Found Property: An Iphone was found out by the Goldfields and turned into the Police Department. After researching the number the owner was located and the phone was returned.

Trespassing: A caller reported a person trespassing at the Civic Center. This case is currently under investigation.

Alarm – Other: A trouble alarm was activated at the Civic Center. Officers responded to the area and found that the power had gone out in the building which had tripped the alarm.

Patrol Alert: While on patrol Officers found several people drinking alcohol at Dock Point. Officers spoke with the individuals about drinking laws and they agreed to put the beers away and move on.

Citizen Contact: While on patrol an Officer was flagged down by a citizen trying to find out where they could park. The Officer gave them the information they were looking for.

Animal Noise: A caller reported a dog barking for the past couple hours. The Community Safety Officer responded to the area but there were no dogs barking.

Phone Person: A person stopped by the Police Department and wanted to know gun law as they pertained to minors. An Officer read him the statutes.

Citizen Contact: An Officer spoke with the Silver Bay Seafoods plant manager regarding assistance with their employees in mitigating issues at Dock Point.

ATV: An Officer made contact with people riding a ranger on the bike path. They were running their dogs and did not want them to get hit on the road.

Violate Conditions of Release: Vanessa Dahl, DOB 4/14/94, of Anchorage was arrested for Violating Conditions of Release.

Lost Property: A Serbian passport was lost. If found please turn into the Valdez Police Department.

Found Property: An Ipod was found on the street near the Boardroom and turned into the Police Department. Call the Police Department with a description to claim.

Welfare Check: A report of a person wearing a white t-shirt, baggy pants and stumbling down the street was received. An Officer located the individual and provided a ride to their residence.

Theft Other: A person called to report their laundry was stolen from the laundry mat. An employee had bagged it up since it had been left too long and another customer mistakenly picked it up.

Indecent Exposure: While on patrol an Officer saw someone urinating outside of the Boardroom and stopped to talk to the person. The Officer also discussed the issue with the bartender.

Lost Property: A report of a lost Canon EOS digital camera in the Solomon Gulch area was received. If found please turn in to the Valdez Police Dept.

Barking Dog: A dog was reported barking for over two hours in a local trailer court. The owner was contacted and advised if the problem continued they would be issued a citation.

Noise Disturbance: A complaint of someone operating equipment in the Robe Lake subdivision area was received. Upon arrival officers found no equipment being operated but did talk to someone who was giving their child a ride in a side by side.

Possible DUI: A report that a vehicle full of intoxicated people had left the gas station and was headed to a bar. Officers made contact with the driver who informed them she was the DD (Designated Driver). The officers observed that she had not been drinking.

Found Property: A females brown wallet was found and turned into the police dept. Please contact the Valdez Police Dept. with a description to claim.

Drinking in Public: Officers made contact with 3 individuals drinking alcohol at Dock Point. They were advised of the ordinance against drinking alcohol in public and were told that the next time they would receive a citation.

Traffic Complaint: A complaint of a car speeding through an RV park was received. The complainant located the car at another RV park. When officers contacted the driver he stated he was frustrated that he could not find his way through the construction. He apologized for driving faster then he should have been. No further action taken.

Burglar Alarm: An alarm was activated at the Valdez Museum. Officers and museum staff confirmed that everything was ok.

Violate Conditions of Release: Vanessa Dahl, DOB 4/14/94, of Anchorage was arrested for Violating Conditions of Release in multiple pending cases after officers were called to a local business for a female that was extremely intoxicated.

Arrested DUI: Susan P. Rouse, DOB; 05/05/51, of Valdez was arrested for DUI after officers were called to a local business for a report of a woman that was intoxicated and was trying to drive away. She registered a breath-alcohol content of .124.

Noise Disturbance: A complaint of someone operating equipment in the Robe Lake subdivision area was received. Upon arrival officers found no equipment being operated.

Traffic Complaint: A report of two vehicles drag racing side by side past the Allison Point Campground on Dayville Road was received. The complainant stated the vehicles were traveling approximately 50 mph when they passed her. The suspect vehicles had left the area before officers arrived.

Fireworks: A report of someone shooting off fireworks at the Kelsey Dock was received. Upon arrival officers did not observe any fireworks.

Possible DUI: Officers were called to a local business for a report of a person smelling of alcohol. The person had left the area before officers arrived.

Found Property: A brown men’s wallet belonging to a man from New Jersey was turned in to the police dept. To claim contact the Valdez Police Dept.

Relationship Issues: Officers were called to the small boat harbor area for a report of a man and woman fighting. Upon arrival officers interviewed witnesses and the involved parties. All agreed it was a verbal argument only.

Criminal Mischief: A report that the security chain on an Alyeska gate to the Solomon Gulch trail had been cut. If anyone has any information regarding this incident please contact the Valdez Police Dept.

Theft of Services: A local business reported a customer had left the night before without paying his $263.00 bill. Officers contacted the individual who returned and settled the bill. The business owner was satisfied.

Credit Card Fraud: A report of fraudulent credit card charges totaling over $10,000.00 was received.

Noise Disturbance: A complaint of what sounded like a constant ‘beep beep beep’ of a back up alarm on heavy equipment coming from Cummings Way was received. Officers investigated the zoning for the area. That area is zoned Waterfront Commercial, which means there are no noise restriction.

Traffic Hazard: A motorist reported seeing a Razor side by side traveling out bound on the Richardson Hwy near Dylen Dr. rollover and off the roadway then drive off into Robe River subdivision. Upon arrival officers found no evidence of the accident or of any injuries, a search of the surrounding neighborhood did not turn up a side by side matching the description given.

Theft of Property: The theft of a wallet, passport, other personal items and a large amount of cash from a fishing vessel moored at the seawall in the small boat harbor was received. If anyone has any information regarding this incident please contact the Valdez Police Dept.

Criminal Mischief: Graffiti on the starboard bow area of a boat in the dry dock was reported. If anyone has any information regarding this incident please contact the Valdez Police Dept.

Noise Disturbance: A report of loud rap music coming from the parking lot of a local apartment building was received. Upon arrival the officer advised the offender to turn the music down, which they did.

Indecent Exposure: A charter boat captain reported that as he was returning to his slip in the boat harbor and there was a man urinating off a commercial fishing boat into the harbor in full view of him and his customers. Officers responded and interviewed all involved. The offender, who did not realize other people had saw him, apologized for his conduct.

Welfare Check: A report that a man had stumbled and was sitting on the side walk was received. Upon arrival the man informed the officer he was ok. The officer provided him a ride home.

Lost Property: A black and red TheNorthFace backpack with an Iphone 6 was lost near the Solomon Gulch trail. The phone was found and returned to the owner. If the backpack is found please turn in to the Valdez Police Dept.

Noise Disturbance: A report of people having a loud outdoor party on Pacific Ave. was received. Officers responded and advised the revelers to keep the noise down, they agreed to do so.

Assault: A report of an assault which occurred at a local bar was received. Upon arrival officers found the person who stated that he was fine and did not want to press charges.
