A Severe Thunderstorm Watch remains in effect until 800 pm in Belknap County, Showers and thunderstorms are expected

A Severe Thunderstorm Watch remains in effect until 8:00 pm in Belknap County with showers and thunderstorms expected to move into the region this afternoon ahead of a strong cold front.

Some storms may be severe during the 1pm to 8pm timeframe with the primary threats of damaging winds with hail and heavy rainfall also possible.

Please pay close attention to the latest weather forecast today through our website, your local media outlets and NOAA Weather Radio.

Instructions:

Be prepared to take the necessary action if threatening weather approaches. Those with outdoor activities including boaters, campers and hikers should be especially aware and be prepared to seek safe shelter or safe harbor. Do not drive through large unknown puddles that may be caused by fast rising waters. Do not approach downed wires, always contact your local fire department or electric company.
