San Jose Resident Arrested for Identity Theft
On July 11th, 2016, Campbell Police Detectives served search warrants at two locations in San Jose related to an ongoing identify theft investigation. San Jose resident Hoang Do, 38 years, was taken into custody for grand theft, counterfeiting credit cards, identity theft and possessing stolen property, in addition to other charges.
Campbell Police Detectives began the investigation after Hoang Do made several fraudulent transactions at the Sport’s Basement and Whole Foods Market in Campbell. Hoang Do was identified as the subject making the transactions with the assistance of the Sunnyvale Department of Public Safety.
At Hoang Do’s residence, Detectives found thousands of dollars’ worth of items purchased fraudulently and items used to manufacture counterfeit credit cards including over fifty completed counterfeit cards. Detectives also located evidence linking Hoang Do to numerous other fraudulent purchases throughout the Bay Area.
