Advisory

Roadway closure: Southbound Contra Costa Blvd btw Woodsworth Ln and Gregory Ln is closed due to sink hole, avoid area

On Friday 7-1-16 at approximately 2104 hours the Pleasant Hill Police Department received reports of flooding in the area of Contra Costa Bl between Woodsworth Ln and Gregory Ln. Upon arrival, officers determined a water line failed beneath the roadway surface of the southbound lanes. The failure caused water to escape through cracks in the street, flooding the roadway and nearby business properties. A large sink hole also developed due to the continuous water flow.

As of this writing, the water has been shut off and the Contra Costa Water District (CCWD) is beginning repairs. These repairs are estimated to take 24 hours, requiring the roadway remain closed through Saturday 7-2-16 and likely continue into Sunday 7-3-16. Once the roadway is deemed safe for travel, it will be reopened. Until that time, drivers and pedestrians are advised to use alternate routes and avoid the area.
