Former Sharpsburg Town Clerk arrested for embezzlement

On 4/21/2016, Town of Sharpsburg Administrators contacted the Nash County Sheriff’s Office concerning five instances of unlawful, willful and feloniously embezzlement of town funds totaling nearly $1,400.00 by the former town clerk, Selena Hope Taylor.

Nash County Sheriff’s Office Investigators sought bank records and other information that would aid in the investigation. After receiving the requested bank records and reviewing the data, there was sufficient probable cause to reveal the embezzlement time frame was between 10/01/2007 and 04/14/2016. Financial records review did confirm five transactions were actual embezzlement by Selena Hope Taylor.

Based on the probable cause, Nash County Sheriff’s Office Investigators obtained warrants totaling five counts of Felony Embezzlement- Public Official/ Trustees against Selena Hope Taylor. Selena Hope Taylor was arrested today, 7/01/2016, without incident. Selena Hope Taylor was fingerprinted, photographed, and transferred to the custody of the Nash County Detention Center. A $15,000.00 secured bond was set by the magistrate and first court appearance is set for 07/05/2016 in Nashville District Court. No further information at this time.
