Sheriff's Office intends to make shut-in senior citizens aware of My Daily Call program.

**Did you know that the Sheriff's Office has a program called "My Daily Call"?**
The My Daily Call program is a program that was developed to focus on our elderly population that lives alone. There are several elderly people that live alone and do not have family close by that can check on them daily. This automated system does just that. Once a candidate is identified (i.e. request the program themselves or by a family member, or referred by someone), a one on one meeting with the candidate will be conducted. During the meeting the program is discussed and the reassurance to the senior citizen that the Sheriff's Office cares for them and is here for them. After the senior citizen decides to become a client, information is collected and a client form is completed. This information is valuable to the Deputies in the event a activation occurs.
**So how does the program work??**
Once the client selects what day and time they would like to receive calls it is all entered into the database. On that specific date and time, they will receive an automated call. During the call it will announce themselves as being from My Daily Call. During the phone call it will ask the client to press a specific key prompt. It could be a 1 if every thing is ok or a 3 if they need assistance. If the client presses 1 they system resets and is ready for the next day. If the client presses 3 or does not answer at all, the call center notifies Nash County Communication's Center by a phone call and also notifies the My Daily Call Coordinator for the Sheriff's Office through an email. A call is generated and the Coordinator will attempt to make contact with the client by phone. In the event the client is not reached by phone, the Coordinator will make attempt to make contact with the emergency contacts listed on the clients application. In the event that contact cannot be made with the client or an emergency contact, the Coordinator or another Deputy will respond out to the client's residence.
This program is a free service that is provided to the senior citizen's of Nash County. It is designed for those senior citizens who live alone, and are not able to get out and about on their own, and are not able to be checked on at regular intervals by family or friends. The Sheriff's Office has 5 clients currently on the program. We can monitor up to 15 clients with the current plan. If you are interested in signing up for this program, or have a loved one that you would like to sign up, please contact Deputy Stan Ricks at [email protected].
