Advisory

4 Residential Burglaries Have Occurred in Moraga During the Past 24 Hours.

The Moraga Police are investigating four (4) residential burglaries that occurred in the past 24 hours. They occurred on Draeger, Woodford and Buckingham. Two of the burglaries occurred while the resident was home. It appears that in these cases, the burglars were scared off when they discovered (heard) that someone was home. In two of the incidents, the burglars entered through unlocked doors or windows. In addition to these, the Orinda Police are investigating 2 residential burglaries that were interrupted by the homeowner. in Orinda. If you have any information about any of these incidents, please contact the Moraga Police Department at 925-888-7055.

Please take precautions to prevent burglaries at your home and your neighbors' homes by doing the following:

**Be aware of your surroundings. Report suspicious persons and vehicles to the Police.
**Please lock all of your doors and windows when you are leaving or when you are going to be in another area of your house.
**Lock your side gates when you are away to reduce access to your back yard.
**Keep a record of the serial numbers of your electronics and other valuable items. Take clear photos or videos of the items to provide identifying information if they are stolen.
**If you have a safe in your home, make sure that it is secured to a wall or the floor to prevent easy removal.
**If you are going to be away for an extended period of time, please request a Vacation House Check from the Moraga Police Department.
**Consider installing and using an alarm system.
**Consider installing a video surveillance system to record activity around your home.

In addition, some residents have asked about a product called "The Ring" (ring.com - promo code: 3moraga94556). This product provides some video surveillance of your front door and porch area. While the Moraga Police Department does not endorse any specific product or system, we do recommend that everyone take every precaution to protect your home. Please research any security product or service that you intend to purchase to insure it is appropriate for your needs.
