May 30th

Auto Burglary-900 Block of Richmond Street:
An officer reported an unknown suspect entered the victim’s vehicle by shattering a window and stole a bag of tools. The theft occurred in between 5/29 @ 1700 and 5/30 @ 0745.

Auto Burglary-6060 Central Avenue:
An officer reported an unknown suspect shattered the window of the victim’s rental car to gain entry and stole a bag containing an Ipad. The theft occurred at approximately 1017 hours.

Warrant arrest – Potrero Ave. / S. 56th St:
An officer conducted a traffic enforcement stop and arrested the driver, a 38-year-old Napa man for an outstanding warrant. The man was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and released.

DUI, Driving with a suspended driver license, Probation violation - Cutting Blvd. / San Pablo Ave:
At 2203 hours, an officer conducted a traffic enforcement stop and arrested the driver, a 37-year old Richmond man for driving under the influence of alcohol. The man is currently on probation stemming from a previous alcohol related case. A DMV check revealed that his driver license was suspended. The man was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and released.

Vandalism – 10000 block of San Pablo Ave:
At 2300 hours, an unknown suspect slashed the victim’s tires while he was in the liquor store.

Miscellaneous investigation – Camp Herms:
At 2315 hours, the El Cerrito Fire Department was dispatched to a fire that was started in a fire pit at the Boy Scout camp. No one was supposed to be using the facility that night.

May 31st

Auto Burglary-Central Avenue/ San Mateo Avenue:
An officer reported an unknown suspect shattered the window of the victim’s vehicle and stole a GPS device. The theft occurred in between 5/30 @1500 and 5/31 @1115 hours.

Possession of a Controlled Substance- Carlson Boulevard/Avila Avenue:
At 1303 hours, an officer conducted a pedestrian stop and arrested 48-year-old male from Mill Valley for being possession of suspected methamphetamine. The male was booked at the El Cerrito Police Station and released on a citation.

Theft from Vehicle-1500 Block of Kearney Street:
At 1702 hours, an officer reported an unknown suspect entered the victim’s unlocked vehicle and stole property. The theft occurred sometime during the night.

Medical emergency – 800 block of Bates Ave:
Emergency personnel were dispatched to a residence for a 3-month-old child that was not breathing. An El Cerrito Police Officer was first on scene. The officer found that the child was not breathing and immediately began rescue breaths and CPR. The officer was able to get the child breathing again, but only temporarily. The child stopped breathing several times while being tended to by the officer. The officer continued rescue breaths and CPR until paramedics arrive. Paramedics continued CPR, rescue breaths, and kept the child stable during the ride to the hospital. Once at the hospital, the child regained consciousness, breath, and normal vital signs.

Recovered stolen vehicle, Warrant arrest, Under the influence of a controlled substance, Possession of drug paraphernalia – Eureka Ave. / Pomona Ave:
At 2350 hours, an officer located a suspicious vehicle. A DMV records check showed the vehicle was stolen. The officer followed the vehicle until sufficient units arrived. Officers conducted a high-risk felony car stop on the vehicle and arrested the driver, a 28-year-old Union City man and his passenger, a 29-year-old transient woman. A search of the vehicle revealed drug paraphernalia and methamphetamine. The driver was wanted on two outstanding warrants and the passenger was under the influence of methamphetamine. Both were booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and transported the Martinez Detention Facility.

June 1St

Vehicle theft – Eastshore Blvd. / San Pablo Ave:
Between 0500 and 1600 hours, an unknown suspect stole the victim’s 1993 Nissan pickup truck.

Recovered stolen vehicle, Probation violation, Possession of a controlled substance – S. 49th St. / Castilla Ave:
At 2009 hours, an officer conducted a traffic enforcement stop. While speaking with the driver, the officer realized that the vehicle identification number did not match the license plate attached on the vehicle. The officer conducted a DMV records check and found that the vehicle had been reported stolen to Berkeley PD earlier in the day. The officer arrested the driver, a 36-year-old Vallejo man. The officer also arrested two passengers in the vehicle, a 27-year-old El Cerrito man, and an 18-year-old Berkeley woman. A search of the vehicle revealed methamphetamine that had been prepared for injection. The driver was found to be on probation for a drug related offense. All the suspects were booked at the El Cerrito Police Department. The driver was transported to the Martinez Detention

Facility. The passengers were released.
Possession of a controlled substance – San Pablo Ave. / Stockton Ave:
At 0325 hours, an officer conducted a traffic enforcement stop and arrested the driver, a 46-year-old Hayward woman for possession of methamphetamine and opiate pills. The woman was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and released.

June 2nd

Possession of Stolen Property-11450 San Pablo Avenue:
At 0530 hours, officers were dispatched to Safeway for an unwanted subject. Officers contacted a 27-year-old male from Richmond and found him to be in possession of stolen property. The male was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and released on a citation.

Stolen Vehicle Recovery-5900 Block of Charles Avenue:
At 0721 hours, the victim advised she located her reported stolen vehicle in the Del Norte BART station.

Warrant arrest – San Pablo Ave. / Moeser Ln:
At 2200 hours, an officer conducted a pedestrian stop and arrested a 30-year-old Richmond woman for an outstanding warrant. The woman was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

Shoplifting, Public intoxication – 670 El Cerrito Plaza:
At 2156 hours, an officer accepted the citizen’s arrest of a 38-year-old transient man after he stole alcohol from CVS. Upon contacting the man, officers found that he was extremely intoxicated and unable to care for himself. The man was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

Warrant arrest, Assault on a peace officer – 10500 block of San Pablo Ave:
At 2210 hours, an officer conducted a pedestrian stop on a 30-year-old Richmond woman and found that she had a warrant issued for her arrest. Another unit arrived to assist and the woman was arrested. The woman was handcuffed and the officer began placing her in the rear of the patrol vehicle. The woman attempted to bite the officer, leaving saliva on his uniform sleeve. The woman also spat at officers but was unable to hit them. The woman was transported straight to the Martinez Detention Facility.
