May 13th

Assistance to Other Agency – Department of Motor Vehicles - 6400 Manila Ave:
At 0907 hours, Officers responded to the report of a subject causing a disturbance at the DMV. The subject was reportedly wearing camouflage clothing, body armor and was threatening to pull out a gun. Officers arrived and contacted the man who was having a mental health crisis. The California Highway Patrol, who holds jurisdiction over the DMV responded and took over the investigation.

Assistance to Other Agency - San Pablo Ave. / Eastshore Blvd:
At 1110 hours, an officer spotted a vehicle used to commit auto burglaries in Hercules and San Pablo. The vehicle was stopped and numerous items of stolen property were recovered. Both occupants were 22 year old Oakland women were placed under arrest by the San Pablo Police Department.

Traffic Collision - Central Ave / Albemarle St:
At 1131 hours, officers responded to the report of a major collision. An eastbound Ford F150 collided with a power pole and sheered it in half, exposing live wires on the roadway. Traffic in all areas around the collision was diverted and PG&E responded to replace the pole. As a result power was available intermittently out for several hours. Luckily no parties were seriously injured.

Warrant Arrest - 11545 San Pablo Avenue:
At 1451 hours, an officer conducted a pedestrian stop and arrested a 36 year old transient man on a No Cite warrant. He was booked and transported to the County Jail.

Shoplifting / Probation Violation – Safeway, 11450 San Pablo Avenue:
At 1717 hours, an officer responded to the report of a shoplifter in custody at Safeway. The suspect, a 40 year old Richmond woman was placed under citizen’s arrest for stealing $268.00 in shrimp and misc. items. She is also probation (2X) for theft related offenses from businesses in El Cerrito. She was booked and was transported to the County Jail.

Sexual Assault – BART Path / Gladys Ave:
At approximately 1915 hours, a teenage victim came to the El Cerrito Police Department to file an assault report. The teenage victim was walking alone on a walkway which leads from the intersection of Madison Avenue and Kearney Street to the BART path around 10:30 PM on Thursday evening. As she was walking, an unidentified Hispanic male shoved her to the ground and sexually assaulted her. The victim was able to fight off the suspect which resulted in him fleeing northbound on the BART path. The suspect is described as a Hispanic male, around 30-years-old, heavy build and standing 5'08" tall. The suspect may also have injuries to his face and neck as a result of being struck by the victim.

Shoplift – Safeway, 11450 San Pablo Ave:
At 1915 hours, an officer responded and accepted the citizen arrest of a 46 year old San Pablo man after he stole merchandise and was detained by loss prevention. He was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and released on a citation.

May 14th

Auto Burglary - 2600 block of Mira Vista Dr:
At 0651 hours, an officer responded to the report of an auto burglary. An unidentified suspect popped the trunk lock, rifled the trunk but took nothing. The burglary occurred between 10:00 o’clock the night before and 0600 hours.

Auto Burglary - 2600 block of Mira Vista Dr:
While the officer was investigating the aforementioned case, he noticed another vehicle with an open trunk. The loss in this burglary was miscellaneous items of clothing.

Vehicle Theft - 2600 Yuba Ave:
At 1039 hours, an officer responded to report of a stolen vehicle. In between 2200 hours and 0800 hours, an unidentified suspect stole a red 2000 Toyota regular cab pickup truck.

Methamphetamine Possession / Warrant Arrest – Atlas Liquors - 11382 San Pablo Avenue:
At 1223 hours, an officer contacted a 37 year old transient male in front of the store. The male was wanted on several different Albany PD warrants. He was also found to be in possession of suspected methamphetamine and a pipe. He was booked and transported to the County Jail.

Grand Theft – Safeway: 11450 San Pablo Avenue:
At 1322 hours, an officer responded to the report of a theft at Safeway. The first suspect described as a black male, approximately 20 years old and wearing a white tee shirt. The male was walking through the meat department and was passing items to a second suspect, described as a black male, about 30 years old, wearing a red beanie and black jacket in a motorized wheelchair. Once he received the meat, the second suspect concealed the merchandise into a bag under his jacket and in between his legs. The total loss was over $1500.00.

Graffiti - 10900 block of San Pablo Ave:
At 1500 hours, an officer noticed an El Cerrito Police Department vehicle had been spray painted by an unidentified suspect. The paint was still fresh when discovered by the officer.

Warrant Arrest - Walgreens 11565 San Pablo Avenue:
At 1624 hours, an officer contacted a 64 year old transient woman at Walgreens after store employees reported she was harassing customers and staff. The woman was wanted on a felony assault warrant. She was arrested, transported and booked into the County Jail.

Warrant Arrest - 11450 San Pablo Avenue:
At 1627 hours, an officer responded to the report of a 25 year old transient male refusing to leave the store. It was discovered that he was wanted by the San Francisco Police Department for stealing an ambulance. He was arrested, booked and transported to the County Jail.

Shoplifter, Warrant – CVS, 670 El Cerrito Plaza:
At 1840 hours, an officer responded to the report of a shoplifting that had just occurred. The subject, a 42 year old transient male, was detained nearby and placed under citizen arrest by store staff. He was also wanted on a no bail San Mateo County warrant. He was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department, cited on the new charges, and transported to the County Jail on the warrant.

Stolen Vehicle located – Barrett Ave / Yuba St:
At 1909 hours, an officer located a red 1998 Toyota T100 Pickup which was reported stolen to CHP Contra Costa on 5/11/16.

Warrant Arrest – 6400 Cutting Blvd:
At 2303 hours, an officer contacted a 30 year old transient woman who was wanted on an El Cerrito warrant for her arrest. She was arrested, booked and transported to the County Jail.

Warrant – Cutting Blvd / San Pablo Ave:
At 0337 hours, an officer conducted a pedestrian stop and arrested a 24 year old man from Richmond on a no bail San Francisco warrant. He was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

May 15th

Fail to Comply with Lawful Order – Galvin Dr / Stockton Ave:
At 0017 hours, an officer conducted a traffic stop on a maroon 80s model Jeep pickup truck with no tailgate and missing the rear sliding window. The first two numbers on the license plate were 20. The officer contacted the driver, a black male in his 40s or 50s, bald with glasses, and wearing a dark blue shirt. Upon contact with the driver, the driver sped away from the stop southbound on Galvin and then westbound on Terrace Drive. The officer was unable to catch up to the truck and no pursuit was initiated.

Warrant – Liberty St / Eureka Ave:
At 0243 hours, an officer conducted a pedestrian stop and arrested a 27 year old man on a no cite Alameda County Warrant. He was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and then transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.
